Today

A quick post to say I have no time to post. Ah... ok then. Well, I do have time right now but it isn't enough time to actually sit down and type a proper post.

Why?

We had a 30th surprise birthday party organised by my princess for her amazing boyfriend!

The food. OMG I thought I'd had spring rolls before but nothing compared to these golden delicacies. Amazing! Not to mention the Cobb Loaf or the fact that I, hater of corn, becomes a ravenousness pig when faced with amazing Cobb Loaf. How irresistible!

Unfortunately we couldn't stay long as we had to get home and organised to head out to a 21st at the mister's old workplace. I sit here now as both boys are fast asleep and my mum is on her way to stay the night looking after munchkin. So lucky!

I also had my first challenge for my Style Challenge.

Today, I decided that I would wear two outfits. I want to feel like I have too many clothes. Which I do but not like Madonna or Britney Spears. Maybe like Britney, I do have a lot of tracksuit pants and oversized t-shirts.

Anyway, todays outfit will not be tonights outfit. Today was casual. Tonight is dress up, a suit party. A suit party that I am not wearing a suit and neither is the mister. We are rebels.

Today I wore;
Leather Jacket - Bali
Dress - Kookai (2007)
Belt - Portmans (2006)
Leggings - Supre (Ski Tights)
Wedges - Pinet Shoes from ShoeBiz (2005)
Earrings and Ring - Diva (2007)

Oh yeah definitely working it baby!

How much did I spend to wear this outfit today? $0. Well, I did buy all the above but I bought them years ago. My underwear is definitely the newest thing on.

So far so good! I must admit I almost went and bought more leggings/tights today. They were under $5 though and I think I'll still buy them. A girl can never have too many!

Depending on the existence of a hangover tomorrow I'll be posting tonights outfit then. Stay tuned!

$5 Style Challenge

Is it possible to keep up with style trends by only spending $5 on an item?

I'm going to find out.

I was trying to decide what I was going to wear to a couple of parties and my initial conditioned thought was 'I have no clothes'.

Bullshit.

I have so many clothes. I've got clothes at my dad's house, our car and in space bags downstairs in storage. I have a lot of clothes. Not all fit, not all suit me and not all are in great condition. I do have a lot of clothes I've sorted through and are waiting to go to charity. I've even thrown out clothes AND shoes. I am no longer a clothes hoarder.
Portmans Poncho $4 Op Shop
Anyway, I have clothes. Clothes that may not be in fashion now though. So can I update these clothes without being a sewing genius (which I am definitely not) and on a tight budget? How about for $5 and less? I'm talking clothes, shoes, make-up and accessories.

I've bought clothes for $5 before at Op Shops, Tree of Life, Target, Big W, Kmart, Supre, Ice - you know all those stores. I know it can be done. Can it be done for longer than one shopping trip though? Can these clothes be stylish?

Do you think I can do it?

Unplanned the planned

You know how I was going to volunteer at events with the Dalai Lama? No? Well I mentioned it here, here and a lot on twitter.

If you read the above posts you'll know how well it didn't go on Wednesday. It'll also give you a hint how well it isn't going today.

Yep, munchkin is still sick.
Bad quality but this is how we slept last night
I've changed my attitude though, it may have something to do with the fact that the mister is home today and we are going out tomorrow.

I've decided that I am going to take the Buddhist approach to this and try to remember it for future plans that get unplanned. Today, at least, I am being mindfulness and remembering that emotions pass and I'm being confident that my choice to stay home with munchkin (and take him to the doctor/hospital) is the right choice.

This approach has meant that I am not in a foul mood, feeling bad, anxious or upset at the situation. Oh normally I would be. I'd be feeling guilty, anxious, angry, upset - if it's negative I'd be feeling it and it'd eat me up. I'd be the one staying in bed all day feeling sick.

Instead, I'm going to do as much uni work as I can, we are going to the doctors/hospital to get munchkin checked over, we have to go to the mister's TAFE and I'm going to slowly eat the delicious Jackpot Noodles left overs.

Oh and I'm going to flog my blog so the fabulous Glowless doesn't cry more. She loves blogs and wants to FlogYoBlog so go over there, watch the video, try not to cry (with laughter) and help her (and you) out.

Baby Shower Polly

This weeks Polyvore challenge is Baby Shower.

Polly is having a tea party shower. Polly is having a little girl so the tea party romper and the Disney Princesses tea set is perfect. Polly is going for a vintage theme so everyone would be dressed similar. That bag is a nappy bag, how divine!
