To Vlog or Not To Vlog?

There are so many awesome bloggers turning to vlogs (video blog) such as Zoey from Good Googs, Dani from Danimezza, Jess from Diary of a SAHM, and Lori from RRSAHM.

I'm feeling left out. Yes, I'm sucked in to trends. It's so hard not to. The only problem is I don't know what to vlog about. Suger asked her readers for suggestions to vlog about and I am too.

Should I vlog? Any suggestions or questions?

  1. Honestly? I'm not really into Vlogs. I often skip past posts with videos in them, I read blogs while doing other things and I don't like the noise- it tends to attract my toddler 'What are you doing, Mummy?'. Lol. It's part of the reason I love blogs is because it's reading, not watching.

  2. I vlog when the story is too complex to write without writing an essay.

Or once when I was a little Emo and couldn't process my thoughts to write them.

Or, you know, when I'm doing a little song and dance, cause its hard to capture that in words ;)

A lot of people do skip over vlogs but I like them cause I think you really get to know a person through them. You see facial expressions, hear their voice and see all their hand movements and personal things. It's nice and informal and if it's a blogger you really love, it's exciting to kind of finally 'meet' them.

So please vlog! Let us see you!

  4. You should do what is comfortable for you. I'm not sure at the moment but I might just do it one day :)

  5. I used to do a mixture of blogging & vlogging on my old blog. I used vlogging as a way of wrapping up my week. Its nice to put a voice to the face as I find when I read blog entries from people who ive heard speak before I hear their voice in my head when Im reading a blog entry. Always keep the vlog entry short and dont ramble on or people get bored and move on. Same kind of principles as a blog entry- keep it concise and to the point, usually just with 1 or 2 topics. Write down (or even type up) dot points of things you want to cover and have within eyesight when you record it so you dont sit there thinking about what to say. They can be good if done right.

  6. I'd love to see you vlog! It's good to put a voice to the name and the face.
Maybe your next Sesame update should be on video ;)

  7. I like meeting bloggers via the vlog too. I've only done one but may do more when so inclined. I think the sky's the limit regarding the topic. A short one is usually better, in my opinion. I don't think it needs to be scheduled eg weekly unless you want it to be as part of a theme. Do it! :-)

  8. Don't do it just because everyone else is, for goodness sake. But if you want to, why not?

  9. I'm glad I did it. It was fun. And I think the people that did watch it (clearly NOT Amy - Haha) feel like they got to know me a little better. Put a voice to my words. Or at least, that's what they said.

I recommend the questions thing. But don't let it drag on. Once you get used to it, you can free range it. ;)
